This includes leveraging the opportunities the region can offer and support sustainable regional development in a number of different areas that are important for growth and employment in the region. We work closely with other organisations to promote Dalarna.
Our main task in the next few years is to implement the Dala Strategy or regional development programme. The Dala Strategy is effectively a policy document that dictates Regional Cooperation Council of Dalarna activities and decision-making. The Dala Strategy identifies four challenges facing Dalarna: globalisation, knowledge provision, environment realignment and Dalarna specific challenges. The choices and goals included in this strategy are based on these challenges.

Development work is pursued in close cooperation with local authorities in Dalarna and other regional organisations. We offer knowledge, inspiration, networks, coordination and financial support.
We are active in several areas, including:
regional enterprise (e.g. development of tourism, cluster, innovation systems and private enterprise)
infrastructure planning and public transport
education, training and skills provision
helping young people have a bigger say in social and community issues
developing methods for coordinating regional and local authority development work
resolving on the allocation of government project funds for regional development
We also look after the interest of the region on a wider stage on behalf of the local authorities and provide certain services for them. These primarily concern issues related to education, the environment and community development and social activities.
