Fornby Folk High School
Welcome to Fornby Folk High School!
A Folk High School is an alternative school for adults. It is voluntary, free and open for everyone over 18 years of age.
Fornby Folk High School was founded in 1877 and is one of Sweden's oldest. It lies in Dalarna, just outside Borlänge, in beautiful surroundings that give great opportunities for outdoor life.
Fornby Folk High School also has a branch in Falun. Both schools are equipped with all the necessary work tools: computers, wireless internet and more. Students also have access to our well-stocked library.
It is important to us that our students feel welcome and at home at the school. We work hard to make sure that everyone who comes to us will find a path in life and a place in society through their studies.
Students are welcome to stay at the school's boarding house in Borlänge during their studies. The facilities are accessible to disabled and hearing impaired.
Most of our students attend our access courses. These courses are aimed at students whose school education was cut short or disrupted. We also offer Swedish courses for immigrants, year-long courses in art and textiles as well as a course tailored for students with acquired brain damage.
