Patologi och cytologi

Klinisk patologi och cytologi finns vid Falu lasarett och ger service till hela länet.

Patologi och cytologi Dalarna är en länsövergripande avdelning för verksamhet inom histopatologi, cytologi, obduktion- och bårhusverksamhet samt vid Dalarnas forskningslab. I verksamheten ingår även deltagande i donationsverksamhet samt rutiner och dokumentation för biobankssamordning enligt biobankslagen.

Den huvudsakliga verksamheten består av morfologisk diagnostik inom huvudprocesserna histologi och cytologi, där man genom mikroskopisk undersökning och diagnostik av kroppens vävnader (histologi) och celler (cytologi) utesluter eller konstaterar framför allt cancer, men även andra sjukdomar.

Förloppet från dess att prov inkommer tills det är färdigt för morfologisk bedömning omfattar en rad delprocesser genom flera steg av preparering på det histopatologiska- respektive cytologiska laboratoriet. Ofta används immunohistokemiska analyser där man med hjälp av antikroppar detekterar proteiner i celler som stöd för cancerdifferentiering.

Övriga specialmetoder vi arbetar med är storsnittsteknik, specialfärgningar, molekylära analyser, immunofolurescens, och mikroskopisk bedömning av spermaprover vid infertilitetsutredningar.

Patologi och cytologi Dalarna är ackrediterade och granskas regelbundet av Sveriges nationella ackrediteringsorgan Swedac. Ackrediteringen säkerställer kvalitetskrav för medicinska laboratorier enligt SS-EN ISO 1589:2012.

Avdelningen är utvald av Europeiska Patologiföreningen som internationellt utbildningscentrum i bröstpatologi, ESP Advanced Training Center. På avdelningen arbetar biomedicinska analytiker, läkare, medicinska sekreterare, obduktionstekniker, molekylärbiologer och laboratorieassistenter.
